League History
Roller derby came to the Fox Valley in 2007 as the Fox Cityz Foxz. As the sport grew, some skaters craved more competitive play while others preferred a more recreational route. As a result, the Paper Valley Roller Girls (PVRG) was created in 2008 and the two leagues coexisted.
PVRG utilized a charter system with an A-team, PVRG, and a B-team, the Flying Squirrels. PVRG was a travel team with a focus on WFTDA rankings. Alternatively, the Foxz were structured with home teams including the Pushy Posse, A-Queen Wheelers, Rollergirl Regiment, and the Paper Dolls. These home teams faced off against each other until the Fox Cityz Foxz restructured into a charter system with the Scream Puffs.
In 2018, the leagues merged into one 501c3 organization: Fox Cities Roller Derby (FCRD), incorporating elements from the Fox Cityz Foxz and Paper Valley Rollergirls. FCRD is a charter system consisting of the Fox Cities All Stars and the 920 Honeys. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic forced FCRD to take a break. Finally, in late 2022 practice resumed with numerous safety measures in place followed by return to play in 2023.
